The Stanford – Santa Cruz Cosmology Fellowship is an independent post-doctoral fellowship is for four years, to be split between Stanford and UCSC, and offers a competitive salary and research funds.

This fellowship offers an opportunity to carry out independent research and to be connected with two vibrant cosmology programs. Stanford and UCSC are located 50 miles apart. Fellows will spend two years at each institute, or will have the opportunity to split their time between the two institutes for the duration of the fellowship. Fellows will have the opportunity to organize joint workshops between UCSC and Stanford.

One of the goals of this program is to also provide strong mentorship across the 4 year time frame and across highway 17. Fellows will be asked to pick a mentor in each location. Possible mentors at UCSC include faculty listed here and other members of the Astronomy & Astrophysics and Physics departments. The two faculty members will work together to provide mentorship for Fellows throughout the 4 year time frame. Fellows may choose to switch mentors during their program.

Residence: fellows are not required to live in any specific location (they may choose to commute for 2 years of their term). Fellows may choose between two time division strategies.

1. Two plus two:
Y1 & Y2: spend bulk of time at location 1. Spend 2 days a month at location 2.
Y3 & Y4: spend bulk of time at location 2. Spend 2 days a month at location 1.

2. Hybrid:
Y1 & Y2: 3 days a week at location 1 and 2 days a week at location 2.
Y3 & Y4: 3 days a week at location 2 and 2 days a week at location 1.

Together with collaborators, Fellows will have access to the Keck and Lick Observatories, the Lux supercomputer at UCSC, and extensive computing facilities at Stanford, SLAC, and UCSC.
